2017 In-service training
WESTEC's In-Service classes are all a one-day, 8-hour class. Class time is from 8am-5pm. Students will receive a certificate upon successful completion of the class.
All classes require a non-refundable deposit, due Thursday at 12noon prior to the scheduled class of interest.

Teaches the ability to properly write a report using subject/verb agreements and the ability to write a narrative report based upon a scenario and explain the difference between sentences and fragments.
Teaches/demonstrates the practical, safe, legal, and technical aspects of deploying chemical agents within the confines of the jail/correctional facility.

WESTEC Corrections Training offers standard and customized training with excellence and flexibility on an open enrollment basis. We provide training at our North Kern Training Center (Shafter, CA) or will come to you. In the past, we have provided training in San Diego, Long Beach, San Luis Obispo, Bakersfield, Visalia, Fresno, Merced, and Rancho Cordova. Our regular clients include Kern County Probation Department, Tulare County Probation Department, Taft Federal Correctional Institution, Kern County Sheriff’s Department, GEO Group, Cities of Delano, Shafter, and Taft, and Cornell Corrections Corporation.
Our instructors are current or retired law enforcement or correctional officers. The majority hold bachelor degrees. All have attended advanced or specialized training to be subject matter experts. The BOG waiver will only cover the cost of the units for each class.
Students may apply for the BOG through Bakersfield College. Click on the link below
for the BOG form. Please fill out and return to the Financial Aid Department at the
Bakersfield College campus. An award letter should be presented on registration

Students are introduced to the straight stick, expandable and side-handle batons and taught basic blocks and strikes.
